09.22 We're getting married!!!

With so much excitement in my heart, I get to tell you all that Matthew proposed last weekend while we were in Provincetown!!!!!!!!

I've been living on cloud 9 since September 14th approximately 7:30 pm - we'd just returned to the hotel room after such a romantic day, and I was shocked. I was suspicious the entire weekend because I was so sure he'd have chosen one of the picturesque moments throughout the day. Well, it turns out that Matthew is far more concerned with surprising me than the optics of our engagement - something I love about him and reminds me how well we balance each other out. It was everything I wanted, and not what I expected. It was intimate and sweet and... us.

We'll likely have an extra long engagement - we've talked about it and we're thinking 2027 or 2028 which is much longer than the typical 1-2 year engagements that we see in the Midwest. Still, we've thought about what we want to prioritize in the near future, and we are trying to save money for a down payment (at least the amount it would cost for one back home) before we start shelling out the money for a wedding. I know some people may question our decision to have a longer engagement (it's already begun), but I'm looking forward to soaking in being engaged rather than rushing toward marriage - we have forever for that.

I know it's a short post - but obviously, I needed to update the blog ASAP and let all of my online friends know our wonderful news. I wish all of you a love that feels as good as this.
